Blackwater Summer Festival

Aiken State Park, Windsor, SC

Date: 20 Jun 2015 10:00 AM

Friends of the Edisto (FRED) invites you to attend the Second Annual “Blackwater Summer Festival” at beautiful Aiken State Park on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Park gates open at nine o’clock AM. Aiken State Park charges $2 for parking. Registration from 9:00 AM until, and the festivities will begin at 10:00 AM.

This year, we are thrilled to announce our "headlining" act - Danielle Howle! We will also have a couple of other musical acts throughout the day, including Pocket Buddah of Columbia, with more to be announced soon!

Savannah River Ecology Lab will join us in the morning for a special wildlife presentation. If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing Sean Poppy and his educational critters, you're in for a treat!

Aiken State Park features swimming and boating facilities, including a canoe and kayak trail along the South Fork Edisto River. There are also hiking trails around the festival area, and camping grounds if you want to make a weekend of it!*

We will have light snacks for those early-risers who want to join us for breakfast, and a home-cooked BBQ lunch with all the fixin's. Bring a cooler (no alcoholic beverages, please) and a picnic blanket for the family - well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join, too!

The event is free to FRED members. If you’re not a member yet, you can join FRED for special starting annual dues of $10. If you are a member whose membership has lapsed, the renewal fee is $25 for a Basic membership. Non-members can enjoy the all-day activities for a donation of $10.

Stay tuned for more details about food, music, and other activities.

*If you want to camp at the park, please contact the Aiken State Park staff at 803-649-2857 to reserve a spot.

Please pre-register if you know you are planning to join us! More information and online registration: Blackwater Summer Festival
