Friends of the Edisto has been working hard in recent months to forge new and stronger ties with our friends along the river as it joins with the Atlantic Ocean at Edisto Island.

As part of this effort, we had begun actively planning for a new FRED event, tentatively scheduled for the second weekend in November. We were looking forwards to a great day, but then Hurricane Matthew forced us to put those plans on hold.

The "Spirit of the River" event returned to Givhan's Ferry State Park on Saturday, August 13th. FRED was happy to work with the South Carolina Paddlesports Industry Association to bring back this opportunity to share the beautiful Edisto with paddlers, tubers, swimmers, and river lovers of all descriptions.

FRED is excited to be a cosponsor of the return of the "Spirit of the River" event to Givhans Ferry State Park this August 13, starting at 10AM. (A number of SC outfitters are offering additional activities on August 14, but the core event at Givhans Ferry will be happening on the 13th.)
